Nurse Home Visiting

Why It Matters

Babies and young children reach developmental milestones in a sequence and usually within a certain range of time.

When trained nurses visit homes to support children's developmental progress, problems are more likely to be detected early, when intervention can help the most.

Just as important, SRP nurses are a trusted resource for parents of young children - someone who can answer their questions, give them problem-solving ideas and connect them with community resources for families.

Old wives tales and informal advice can derail new parents because they are not often rooted in fact.

Take this fun quiz to separate fact from fiction!

The Chemung County School Readiness Project Website has calculated nearly 300,000 total visitors since it went live in February 2007. That's an average of over 150 visitors daily.
